• Description of portfolio Iceland

This portfolio is the fifth work in the "Five Elements" collection. The photographs taken in different parts of Iceland evoke the themes of Earth and Water - two elements in constant unmerciful conflict in this country. Although they are presented as two distinct elements they are intimately linked and even inseparable as these landscapes witness.

Water, perpetually in motion, is unleashed in the waterfalls of Gullfoss and peaceful in the port of Reykjavik Almost asleep in the depths of the islands fjords, previously eroded by water's relentless motion, sometimes freezing , this same water glides gracefully in the Jökursarlon.

The Earth, carved by water in the riverbeds of Gaesavatnaleid, rests peacefully in the fields of lava, signs of former revolts. Examples of when earth overcomes its rival and captures water in its craters provide a rare opportunity to reflect on this wild element, harnessed and still somehow unsettling.
