Claire Xuan began her artistic career as a stylist and decorator in a publicity agency but very soon her passion for photography led her to abandon Paris and in 1991 with her camera in hand she embarked on her first expedition to discover the secrets of New World. Finally settling in California, together with one or two graphic designer collegues, it was here that Claire produced the draft for her first edition.

In 1995 Claire returned to France to dedicate her entire professional activity to photography and her concept of a unique collectors item consisting of a publication of artistic photography and reproductions of original etchings, bound in an creative presentation.

A year later Claire Xuan decided to return to the source of her origins, and her inspiration in the land of her ancesters. It is here that the first of her major works was accomplished and in 1998 “Vietnam and the Five Elements” was published.

The communion of the five fundermental elements in Asia together with the four occidental elements are without doubt the source of of Claire’s inspiration for this creative work.

Claire Xuan’s Vietnamese origins has had a significant influence on her interest in the writings of oriental philosophers, she is capable of capturing the impressions of the elements present in their natural environment through creative photography.

“Elements Editions” was founded in the same year by Claire and publishes a collection of works including her travel journals, and a selection of photographs.
